The Old Rectory, Kilve, Somerset
A perfect place to...............................
Chill out, walk, ride your bike or a horse, fish, shop - in fact, just about anything that takes your fancy.
Kilve is on the A39 equidistant from Bridgwater and Minehead. It is within an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty', between the Quantock Hills and the sea, both one mile away. Kilve cricket ground, right by the sea, must be one of the most beautifully situated in England. Snacks and cream teas are served at The Chantry, a few minutes walk from the cricket ground. Kilve is a friendly village with a local store/Post Office and a 17th century public house,The Hood Arms, which serves good food at lunchtimes and evenings. Leave the car here, have a meal and a few glasses of wine at The Hood and be 'home' within minutes. There are frequent events at the Village Hall, including Film Night on the last Friday of each month, all at less than an extra few minute's walk away.
The Old Rectory itself is some hundreds of years old and retains its character. We are not currently accepting B&B bookings. The grounds once contained an orchard, a stable for the Rector's horse and barns for storage of hay, apples etc. The Creamery and Apple Loft are cottages within the grounds of what was once a large expanse of farmland and orchards owned by the Church. Cows are still kept to the rear of The Rectory and sheep graze from time to time in the adjacent field.
The Creamery (below) has two bedrooms, shower room and a well equipped, sociable lounge/kitchen and we are taking bookings now - see Availability/Prices page.
